History

Gorilla Highlands Sports Club was founded and formally registered with Uganda’s soccer governing body, the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) in 2008 as Nyarusiza Football Club, a club playing grassroots football under Kisoro District Football Association. Nyarusiza FC later rebranded to Gorilla Highlands Sports Club in 2016, a name it holds to date. It is registered as a community-based organization (CBO) at Kisoro Municipal Council with Certificate Reg no. KMRC/018/2018.

The major goal for the formation of the club was to act as a springboard where sports opportunities can be advanced to empower potential sports personalities by identifying and developing their talents.

Gorilla Highlands Sports Club (GHSC) plays in the FUFA regional league, the 3rd division of Uganda football after the Betpawa FUFA Big League and Uganda Premier League respectively. Gorilla Highlands Sports Club champions and promotes the training of youths in diverse sporting and arts skills.
